WEEE Cyprus Ltd has received official authorization for the management of photovoltaic panel waste, which falls under Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) of both household and non-household origin.

The relevant permit was issued by the competent authorities of the Republic of Cyprus and is available on the company’s website here.

Photovoltaic panels, as well as electrical and electronic devices, are classified as hazardous waste under the law.

Therefore, disposing of such equipment instead of recycling it not only harms the environment but also poses risks to human health.

In order to facilitate the disposal of photovoltaic panels for recycling, WEEE Cyprus has introduced the following options, which will come into effect on 01/04/2026:

1. Citizens can transport and deliver them to all Green Points across Cyprus. Find the locations here.
2. They can return them to the company that installed them or will replace them with new ones.
3. They can deliver them to the WEEE Cyprus sorting and storage facility located in the heavy industrial area of Geri, which will operate as a designated collection point for photovoltaic panel recycling. Find the location here.
