Organization Profile

The Organization WEEE Cyprus was established with the initiative of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) on June 1 2008, as a non-profit making organization, according to the provisions of the regulation R.A.A. 668/2004 (Regulatory Administrative Act) of the Law on Solid and Hazardous Waste (Law 215 (Ι)/2002).

The creation of WEEE Cyprus is based on this legislation, which determines the framework of responsibilities and obligations of the producers of Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (W.E.E.E.), that is, of the companies which import Electrical and Electronic Equipment in the Republic.

The System cooperates with the Green Dot Organization for the organization and management of the System regarding the handling of the W.E.E.E.. Since June 2016, WEEE Cyprus is a member of the WEEE Forum, the Umbrella Organization for the Collective Systems for the Management of Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment.

The Organization WEEE Cyprus has set high targets and tries to continuously improve the standard of collection, processing and utilization of the W.E.E.E. so as to contribute to sustainable development, maximizing its social contribution to the country. A major booster to this effort is the public, which should deliver its appliances to the indicated places for the recycling of electrical and electronic appliances, to secure their correct handling.
